Preparing your Store for the Holiday Advertising
It’s that time of year again!
The holidays are right around the corner, and the opportunity to dramatically increase the revenue of your retail store is enormous. In a few months’ time, streets will be loaded with holiday themed decorations and holiday specific advertising in each shop. For retail stores, the holiday season offers a unique opportunity to make a final sales push before the start of the New Year.
Using Signage for Holiday Advertising
By now, you hopefully realize that using some holiday-specific signage during this time of year is important for sales. Here’s how to get started:
Pick a Color Pallet
You want the colors you pick out for your business signage to not only stand out, but also to fit the identity of your business. The last thing you want to do as a business entity is pick colors that don’t reflect your brand personality. For example, a chic clothing boutique would do best with light base colors and bold accent colors, such as a white focus color and bright pink accents.
Remember -the colors you pick are going to reflect your brand identity as well as the current season. You also might want to consider picking a color scheme that is going to last not only for the holiday season but can flow into the rest of the winter, if possible.
Blue tones are always popular for the winter from the classic navy blue to an icy blue. The wonderful thing about using blue is it can be traditional or edgy, depending on the context it’s used for. In fact, it’s one of the most popular colors for a business to use in its signage – studies suggest it is 25% of the most valuable brands use it. Don’t believe us? Look at your social media logos the next time you log in, Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, and Tumblr all have blue logos.
In the same way blues bring out a sense of trust and compliance in shoppers, black, gold, and white work together to exude elegance and sophistication. Of course, you can’t go wrong with the classic Red and green combination. Red is bold and powerful, signifying passion and heat. Green is earthy and pulls in the calmness and serenity of nature. Together they bring together the warmth and serenity of the season, while also being eye catching. They also work great with accent colors such as white, silver, and gold to had a little bit of glitz, glamour, and shimmer to your signage.
So, when thinking about the colors that you want to use for your signage, remember to think about what tone you want to convey to your customers.
